Rated 5 out of 5 by holster from great light.a ton of power.awesome out I bought this product after debating between this and the quantum. I decided to get this because I own other Excaliber monolights and they are workhorse lights without the price.

On the back, the light output is determined by a rocker switch that you can set to full power, half power or quarter power. Yes, it would be nice to have a slider switch like the other excaliber or quantum, however for the price it is not a deal breaker and i usually just have it on quarter power or sometimes half. I used full power once because there was NO other light source.but I did it as a test. I still had a ton of power at 100 ISO in a dark room. Why I wanted this unit was because I can use it as a unit powered by AC or DC.

In both cases it performs gerat - no difference between the two. It just allows me to be more versatile.

When in the DC mode, the modeling light does not come on so as to conserve power. The only thing I wish was a little better was the part that connect to a stand. It works fine, I just wish it were made of metal and not plastic. But, I have no concerns about it breaking or anything.
