Now rerun yum install mplayer. Everything should work. Installing mplayer should have installed most of the codecs.

You don't need them. I don't mean remove the other repos, I meant remove the multimedia packages you had installed from them. I am able to play anything I throw at this without gstreamer-plugins-bad. As far as I know, it's an rpmforge package, and if you try to install it, it will cause problems, because it will conflict with some stuff you have now from atrpms. (Or at least stuff that I have) Are you saying you are still unable to play videos? You can also use the priorities stuff detailed on the wiki to make sure that you don't run into conflicts between repos. Anyway, please try install mplayer and it should be able to play anything you have, and shouldn't need the gstreamer-bad.

Please either follow my suggestions, or follow the wiki, but if you're following the wiki, I'm afraid I can't really help. If you try to mix the two, you will almost certainly have issues.

First download these tarballs: The MPlayer Essential Codecs Package: or follow this link if you require more specific codecs: Copy your codecs' tarballs into /usr/local/lib/codecs. If the directory doesn't exist, create it: mkdir /usr/local/lib/codecs cp /path/to/downloaded/essent ial-200606 11.tar.bz2 /usr/local/lib/codecs Extract your codec tarball: bunzip2 essential-20060611.tar.bz2 tar -xvf essential-20060611.tar Move all the codecs from the essential-20060611 directory, up one level and erase the temp directory: mv essential-20060611/*. Rm -r essential-20060611 You should now have a /usr/local/lib/codecs directory containing all your codecs. ATTENTION: The procedure must be completed prior to the configuration of MPlayer.
